Dark Fall

Jersey surfers have a lot in common with Maritimers in terms of the weather. They definitely have better beach breaks. The Dark Fall trailer is cool because it sort of puts into perspective what it’s like to be a surfer here. It also gets you amped for the phatty winter waves. Saw this trailer at ESM. [...]

CI and Mr. Slater

As you probably already know, Mick Fanning defeated Dane in the final heat of the Hurley Pro. I think most of us would have rather seen Slater against Dane Reynolds but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
Speaking of Slater, there’s a cool photo story on Surfline right now about Slater’s current board quiver. He talks [...]

Congratulations Yazzy!

We’d like to congratulate our friend Yazzy for his nomination for this year’s Surfer Poll awards in the web clips category. Yazzy is best known for his surf photography but he is also proficient at film as you can see here. Come by the shop to see some of Yazzy’s photography. We’ve still got some [...]

Trestles Round Two

Hopefully you’ve been watching the action at Lower Trestles over the past two days. I swear I’m not streaming it at work though. There’s been some good surfing for sure. You may have also noticed a couple of Timmy Paterson boards in the line-up. Adriano de Souza got some sickies for sure. Check him out [...]

Alaia and SUP all the rage?

People are going crazy it seems over SUP’s and the little wooden planks called alaia’s. Most people though are stil satisfied riding a standard thruster, fish or lonboard. But not this dude. He’s taking it to a new level. Alaia tow-ins on a SUP in some heavy beach brake.

New Sitka Threads

We got a shipment of radical Sitka threads last Friday. Hoodies, jackets, T’s and more. Check out the fall collection on the Sitka site.
Well maybe you got lucky and scored some clean head high surf at dawn this morning at your favourite spot. I did, along with a few other lucky early birds. The waves [...]

Friday News & Turning is Still Cool

It looks like the current flat spell will hold a little longer. SANS head honchos have decided to postpone the Shut Up and Surf Classic again. Keep an eye on the SANS website for updates.
Check out this definitive (well it’s only 5 mins. long) Curren vs. Occy video. No there are no airs or kerrupts [...]

Fishcuit

Check it. The Fishcuit may look a little funny with its wide tail and narrow nose. But how does it ride? Well here’s an example. We’ve got a couple left so come on in and put one under your arm to see how it fits. Oh and let’s hope [...]

Big surf is good for ya

Next time you think it’s too big and stormy to be worth your while just come back here and watch this ‘95 clip of AI and Corey Lopez riding choppy heavy beachbreak in Waiamea. And don’t forget, when in doubt paddle out.
