We all know someone who owns a Patagonia jacket or pants that they’ve had for 10 years or more. One friend of mine planted trees for three summers during his undergraduate degree in his Capilene Patagonia jacket. Then he went on to get a PhD. and later a law degree and he still wore the same purple Patagonia jacket on our morning dawn patrols. The company is well known not only for its formidable quality and craftsmanship but also for pioneering the way for sustainable business models the 1% for the Planet initiative.
So we are proud to announce that If Only Surf Shop will be a Patagonia dealer starting this year. We will carry women’s and men’s clothes as well as Patagonia’s famous limestone and wool wetsuits. Our first Patagonia shipment should be arriving sometime this month so be sure to stop in.
Well it’s no secret that there should be some sizable surf this week. But like always, hopes must be tempered by the fact that local winds and tides, plus work hours, can have a devastating effect on our ability to score surf. In the meantime and in between time we like to keep our boards ding free and waxed ‘n ready just in case the stars align. One other down time activity could be getting your gazillion-dollar winter suit to smell fresh like spring. Here’s one way:
So it’s finally here. Winter. Surprisingly though it’s been quite warm. Word on the street is that there were some good waves yesterday for those who knew where to go. Did you get some?
We’ve still got some cool threads after the holiday rush. Plaid jackets and T’s from RVCA, Livity hats, and more. And we’ve got some of those new films you’ve been looking for like Still Filthy.
Finally, we are on winter schedule now. That means that we are not open on Sunday’s and Monday’s. All other days are the same.
So it’s a new year and so far the waves have been a little lackluster. But not to worry, the waves will always come again.
As for news around the shop well there is plenty. We’ve got a few new surf films in stock including Still Filthy, Drifter, My Eyes Won’t Dry and others. We’ve also still got a few a winter suits left but most radical of all we’ve got a sale of West 4:3 suits. So if you need a suit for spring at a low price this is your chance.
So stop by and say hello and grab some wax, a RVCA T, a Livity hat or whatever moves you.

Crazy offshores this weekend killed any chance of scoring long period swells. Hopefully you fulfilled your surf need by watching the Vans Triple Crown. Micktory eh. Gotta say I was gunnin’ for Parko. The level of surfing at the Hawaii events is crazy.
And in other news, don’t forget that we’ve got lots of great stoke stuffers like FCS multi-tools, wax, leashes -yeah a leash will fit in your stocking. And for the good boys and girls out there we’ve got rad winter suits from West and Matuse as well as a slew of new sleds. Come on by and check it out.
Round 2 ! We will be open late until 11:00pm Friday December 4th for some late night Christmas shopping. All sales are tax free from 8:00pm – 11:00pm… hint, hint… surfers… all sales, no restrictions!
and don’t forget to add yourself to our Facebook page for all the updates.
Thanks to all of you who came out on Friday for our shopping under the stars night. We had lots of people roll through the shop and a great time was had. This week Steve Smith from FFF dropped in and hand delivered a stack of fresh off the press ESM Magazines. ESM is the east coast’s definitive surf rag and best of all it’s FREE. The latest issue has a photo of local riper Neil Durling dropping into a draining left hander. Come grab a copy before they are gonezo.
Certainly you haven’t been watching the Triple Crown while at work over the past week. It’s been interesting for sure. Crazy how in surfing you can have a 17 year old like John John Florence competing in the same event as 39 year old legend Sunny Garcia. Crazy. It looks like the Eddie could be on today. You can watch it here:live.quiksilver.com/2009/eddie/
Finally, we wanted to tell you that you’ve been really good this year and you deserve it all. So why not treat yourself you a fine new wetsuit or high performance sled. We’re sure your loved ones will understand.
Looks like there’s another swell brewing for early next week. Although the models change really fast around here so who knows. We’ve had some solid waves in the past two weeks though so hopefully the trend will continue. So just to keep you amped here’s a clip of some goofyfoot action for you right foot forward types out there.
