“I’ve been surfing for 11 years and still love every second of it. I amp on any surf the North Atlantic throws my way. I like riding lots of different types of boards- like fishes, logs, thrusters, and weird retro equipment. Almost five years ago I came to Nova Scotia from Maine to go to school for Environmental Science and Economics. Halifax was a good move for my surfing career. I have a great crew of friends that I travel and surf with. We have spent our fair share of time exploring the coast of Nova Scotia and have yet to be disappointed. One thing you can be sure of is that I’ll be hooting and hollering in NS line ups for at least another three years- when my visa expires. Status: DTS- Down to Shred.”

“Growing up in Maine, I started surfing in the summer of ’87 – when I was 12.  I learned from my best friend’s Dad, who got us out on everything from 10 foot logs to kneeboards. It wasn’t WHAT you surfed, but HOW you surfed that really mattered.  It was all about expressing your own style, respecting others and having fun.  I guess this still holds true for me today.  Being Co-President of the Surfing Association of Nova Scotia, (SANS) I’m keen to promote these same principles in Nova Scotia’s surfing community.
Bottom line: if you’re not having fun, you’re not surfing!”

“I was born and bred in New Brunswick. Got into surfing after graduating from high school, when I backpacked around Australia. So, started surfing then when I was 18. I’m 26 years old now. After getting addicted to surfing in Oz, I knew I had to move to Nova Scotia to be by the surf. Travel abroad to surf different waves, whenever I can afford it. I’ve surfed around Europe, Central America, Indo, US, and Aus, New Zealand. Love watching any surf videos. You can learn a lot just from watching videos of the pros. Dig nice style over anything else. Def learn from local guys and surfing with my friends. Recently I’ve been riding my 5′8 rounded pin single fin and love it. It’s my go to board when the waves are smaller and a bit fatter. It’s a different style of riding to my other boards and I am only now starting to appreciate it and ride it how it should be ridden. For a few years it just sat in my closet unappreciated by an immature surf mind.”
